Your smile is one of the first things people notice, and the colour, shape, and alignment of your teeth, along with your gums and lips, play a key role in its appeal. It’s no surprise that research has shown that the appearance of your teeth directly impacts how others perceive your attractiveness, health, and even social success. In fact, a healthy, straight smile is linked to higher self-confidence and psychological well-being. At Distinctly Dental, we’re here to help you achieve the smile you’ve always wanted. Our services include clear aligner treatments (Invisalign and SureSmile), teeth whitening, composite bonding, veneers, crowns, and facial aesthetics (wrinkle relaxants and dermal fillers).
The Path to Your Perfect Smile
1. Straightening Your Teeth
If your teeth are misaligned, the first step is usually to get them into the ideal position.
This is often done using clear aligners, which are discreet, comfortable, and easy to wear.
2. Whitening Your Teeth
Once your teeth are in the right position, we’ll help you decide if you’re happy with their colour. Teeth whitening is a popular option for brightening your smile—check out our blog on teeth whitening for more details.
3. Refining the Shape and Size
After straightening and whitening, we can address any irregularities in the shape and size of your teeth. For minor improvements, we offer composite bonding, which is a minimally invasive treatment that reshapes your teeth using white filling material. If you’re looking for a more dramatic change, veneers or crowns may be the right choice. These treatments are usually considered once your teeth are straightened, as alignment can sometimes reveal imperfections that weren’t noticeable before.
Why Choose Clear Aligners?
Clear aligners, like Invisalign and SureSmile, are the go-to choice for the majority of our patients. Compared to traditional metal braces (also known as ‘train tracks’), aligners are more discreet, comfortable, and convenient. That’s why we’ve chosen to focus on clear aligner therapy at Distinctly Dental.
– Invisalign is the world’s most well-known clear aligner brand, offering a proven, high-quality solution for teeth straightening.
– Suresmile, developed by Dentsply Sirona, the largest dental equipment manufacturer globally, combines innovation with expertise in dental care, offering a reliable alternative to Invisalign.
The Treatment Process
To get started, we offer a free consultation via phone or email. You can send us photos of your teeth, and we’ll assess whether clear aligners are a good fit for you and provide a cost estimate.
If you decide to move forward with treatment, we charge £250 for a comprehensive assessment. This includes a digital scan, x-rays, photographs, and the creation of a personalised treatment plan (or several options if there are different paths to consider). If you decide to go ahead with treatment, the £250 will be deducted from the total cost. If you change your mind, it helps cover the cost of our work and lab fees. The cost of clear aligner treatments typically ranges from £1,000 to £5,000, depending on the complexity of your case and whether you’re treating one or both arches. We offer 0% financing for up to 10 months, or you can pay upfront or in instalments at your regular appointments—whatever works best for you.
Ensuring Your Oral Health
Before starting any teeth straightening treatment, it’s crucial to make sure your teeth, gums, and bones are healthy. If you don’t have a regular dentist, we can conduct a full examination for you. This appointment usually takes up to an hour and includes detailed x-rays, a digital scan, and a thorough discussion of your dental health and treatment options. Because we offer both general dentistry and orthodontic services, you can receive all your treatments with us, avoiding the hassle of coordinating between different practices.
Special Cases
In some instances, a small percentage of patients may require a specialist or even surgery to achieve their desired results. This will typically be clear early in the process, and we’ll discuss your options for referral to a specialist practice.
After Your Treatment: Retainers
Once your orthodontic treatment is complete, you’ll need to wear retainers to maintain your new smile. There are two types of retainers:
– Removable retainers, which are typically worn at night (though some patients may need to wear them during the day for a few months).
– Fixed retainers, which are small wires attached to the back of your front teeth to keep them in place.
It’s important to be prepared to wear at least removable retainers for as long as you want your teeth to stay in their new position.
